welcome to the

Smallwander Club

charming hotel

Smallwander.com has established the Smallwander Club in order to encourage travel to charming small towns. Individual members of the Smallwander Club will receive significant discounts on dining, lodging, attractions, amenities, and events from participating locally-owned businesses in these small towns.

The Club is just starting. We are diligently engaged in asking businesses to become participating members of the Club. We are also giving away complimentary individual memberships to persons who would like to take advantage of the benefits of membership in the Smallwander Club.

Please see the offer here.

We are a small operation, just several small-town folks from North Carolina. We are starting this organization from scratch by ourselves on our own nickels. It would have been nice to have a $50 million start-up bankroll from a venture-capital firm, but even applying for such an investment would have violated one of the underlying principles of our endeavor. We believe that it is not essential to travel a long distance to a major city in order to have an enjoyable, adventuresome, rewarding, and enlightening vacation. Certainly New York, Paris, Hong Kong, and Disneyland are nice places to visit, but getting to those places and returning is expensive and time-consuming. The towns we list, in addition to offering wonderful amenities run by pleasant and friendly local business-people, can be reached in a few hours, with huge savings in energy, money, and time.

Please consider joining the Smallwander Club. At this time, membership is unconditionally without cost. Soon there will be many businesses that offer discounts, significant discounts, to Smallwander Club cardholders [and their guests]. As a general rule, a Smallwander Club participating business will offer cardholders reductions of approximately 15% in the costs of dining, lodging, merchandise, and attendance. Each participating business's name is listed on the website under both its town and its category of amenity. Hovering the mouse over the business's link will reveal the specific discounts offered to Smallwander Club members.

The website is constructed for maximum ease in exploring towns and amenities. All featured small towns are listed in the left sidebar on every page, by state. Each town's name is a link directly to its dedicated page, where you'll find, in addition to a description and images of the town, the amenities, attractions, and events the town offers, listed by category of amenity.

It is possible to get from any page on the site to any other page in just one click, so that planning a trip to one of the small towns is as easy as possible. We make no attempt to keep visitors captive on our pages — if you click on a link to any amenity, you are immediately taken to its website. But please come back!
